TPL Performance - How I got here. . .

 

For the past 25 years, I’ve been fortunate to have amassed a diverse set of experiences.  My path has provided me access to helping to take two companies public (Agency.com, Nasdaq:ACOM and Matomy Media Group, LSE:MMG), work for Private Equity and Venture owned companies, participate in many M&A transactions, manage teams around the world, help scale companies during aggressive growth phases and help companies in turnaround situations.  I’ve held CFO, COO and Managing Director titles.  

When I think back over my career what stands out the most to me are the relationships I built and the opportunity I had to work alongside some great colleagues.   As in all relationships there is learning. My journey as a manager, mentor and leader is grounded in working for some great bosses. I am so grateful for the exposure I had to great mentors over the years and its this appreciation that has fueled my passion to give back and help others.  Nothing excites me more professionally than sharing my experience and perspective and observing someone I’ve worked with operate with more confidence and effectiveness.  

Outside of the office I’ve always kept fitness and overall wellness high on my priority list.  I’ve come to realize that my professional life has been heavily influenced by the habits I’ve created for myself around health and wellness.  My regiment of self care allows me to show up every day with energy, drive and an ability to focus. I have learned to have an appreciation for a positive mindset which has allowed me to operate my life with more confidence, be resistant to stress, and generally be happier.   

In today’s world, work/life boundaries have disappeared for many of us and there are so many distractions that the urgent often gets in the way of accomplishing the important.  The ability to be purposeful with your time, avoid distractions and stay focused on desired outcomes is more important than ever. I’m proud of the theoretical and practical knowledge I’ve developed in this area and my contributions to positively influence others.

I started TPL Performance coaching to help executives become the Best Version of themselves!  For some that means me sharing past professional experience to accelerate a learning curve in a specific area or to help create awareness and vision when confronting a new challenge.  For others perhaps a focus on creating a life of balance that allows them to take control of setting and achieving goals is what’s needed. I’m still working on the best version of me, but the process of getting there has been an awesome experience and I find very rewarding purpose in sharing it with others.  

My commitment to those I work with is to be human, earn trust, add value and practice radical candor.  I believe these values create mutually beneficial relationships.
